Rats. I'm flying to Orlando on Tuesday. The flight out of Indy won't be bad because it's a small airport. But coming back from Orlando is really going to be a hassle.

I never minded flying before Sept 11. After that, it's ridiculous. When we drop someone off in Sacramento, we can't see them to their gate anymore, etc. Just the little stuff.

Having a squad of sherriff's deputies give me a funny look because of my trench coat wasn't very nice either.

Hey I lived through 9/11.

I am tired of these Alerts.

They do nothing for almost everybody.

What are you going to do, stay home?

All the alerts are so vague, all they do is hurt business and wear people down.

As a practical matter, they would stop nothing.

There are so many windows of vulnerability, you coudn't possibly stop them all.

We get it Big Time in NYC because we are perceived as target #1 or #2.

Screw the alerts --and screw the terrorists.
Life must go on.
You can't live in fear.

When you grew up in a big city you learn to be on guard anyhow.
There's a diversion: you grab your wallet. You look behind you on every walk. You look in store windows because they are mirrors. This is nothing new.

But these Alerts only seem to give aid and comfort to those who would enjoy our sufferring. How much do they do to raise our security levels?
