I believe the're are supernatural beings and happenings but one thing that caught my eye was:

"Why would a ghost take the time to open up the door...?" Wouldn't he just come through it?

Insufficient data. We haven't seen, nor studied enough ghosts to actually predict their behavior...if they do indeed exist that is.
