Kwanzaa + American Express = I'm out of luck!

I redeemed some rapid reward points for a $50 Staples certificate.

I called today to check as to when I might expect it as I was thinking that I wanted it before Christmas.

The girl tells me that ordinarily I would get it by the 24th. but because of the holiday I wouldn't get it until the 26th.

I said yeah I know Christmas is a holiday but why would that have anything to do with having it by the 24th.?

She then tells me that Christmas had nothing to do with it.

Kwanzaa is a "holiday" and not considered to a "business" day at American Express and therefore I would not get it until the 26th. because there is no mail delivery on the 25th.

Well, either that person was putting you on or is very misinformed, since Kwanzaa is not celebrated on a single day. It runs from 12/26 - 1/1, I think.

While yes its inconvenient, but if we celebrate christmas I guess its only fair that we celebrate kwanzaa.

Ohh boy A kwanzaa dsicussion

I never realized what the deal was with Kwanzaa. I knew it was celebrated by folks of Afircan-Amercian decent, but that was it. Did some research on it .. honestly I don't understand it. It was created back in the 60's I beelive it was, no basis on any religious holiday, seems to me that is was a way for African-American's to have a xmas-like holiday.

Is Christmas a caucasian holiday and I didn't know it? Sorry to hijak your thread Bill.
