One of Mardi Gras' biggest parades got some major Hollywood star power Thursday when movie star Elijah Wood was named Bacchus XXXVI.

The 22-year-old Wood, who is best known for the role of Frodo Baggins in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, will be the youngest Bacchus ever.


"Elijah Wood is going to be a great Bacchus," said Owen Brennan, the Captain of Bacchus. "He's very enthused to be a part of New Orleans' Mardi Gras and we think he's going to be a great king."


Wood, who has been acting since the age of seven, has been in over 34 productions including "Radio Flyer," "Deep Impact," and "The Ice Storm."


************* OHHH, the value of that dubloon might be pretty high..... and the special beads and cups.... Ohhh, Awwww.....

just might have to go to a New Orleans Parade for the first time in my life!!!!!!!!! (The local parades are so fine, it's hard to justify going over the pond)
