Dave Thomas was an interesting man. He made his bones in the late '50s and early 60's as Harlan (Colonal) Sanders' main man in building Kentucky Fried Chicken into the monolith it is today.
So then, in the late 60's, he coulda retired a millionaire, but instead, starts a hamburger franchise named after his eldest daughter.
He stayed "hands on", appearing in the tv and print ads, and from what I heard, he was no problem to work with! The ad agency boys and Thomas meshed well and created some pretty effective stuff.
