"Morning after pill" yes/no?

Please vote (google for info if you are unsure what it is)

***Sorry---forgot to say---without prescription---put it next to the Aspirin and Tylenol making it cheaply and easily available***

Whew---sorry---

Does it get rid of hangovers?

I say it completely depends on the circumstances.

Edit because of your edit: Not OTC. That is a little extreme.

I say yeah. It's a heck of a lot better than having some unplanned pregnancy destroy your life.

with that arguement should you be having sex in the first place if your not ready for a child? and please dont say this is the 2000's and everyone is having sex. Because you as a human being are your own person, and you have the choice. (dont think im anti sex i just dont think thats a valid statement)

there is two sides to a coin.

i really dont know how i feel about this. i think it would be a great thing, but i can see ALOT of people thinking they dont need condoms anymore because of this. (and you can not say there is not people out there like that!!!!!!!)

Personally I don't think OTC dispensing of this kind of medication is a good idea. Too prone to potential abuse.

We already have morons who abuse OTC sedatives and prey on young women in bars by spiking drinks. I could see how this kinda substance could be abused as well.

Leave it as prescription only, or at least only available OTC at fertility / pregnancy termination clinics or other places where counselling is available.

IMO, anyhow

It's not as if it's completely unavailable, just because it's a prescription. Basically anyone can go in and get the prescription, assuming they've had unprotected sex.

I do not see any advantage to making this an OTC medication. It will simply provide the false illusion to hundreds of thousands of teenagers (if not more), that they now have "all their bases covered". They can have unprotected sex with whomever they want, and not have to worry about pregnancy. Because if they're on the pill, they have that safeguard. Then they can just take another pill (which they can now acquire at the local drug store) the next day and it's as good as failsafe.

It's absolutely unnecessary, IMO.

The problem with it being prescribed is you need to see your Dr and then have it called in and then scramble for the high cost by it being prescribed and then---its too late---yer pregnant---

Morning after means---
You have had a condom break or had unprotected sex under whatever circumstances the night before---the morning after pill prevents a possible un-wanted pregnancy or a need for an abortion at a later stage of that un-wanted pregnancy---

It isnt meant as a method of "birth control" and is not what is referred to as the "abortion pill"...

Has nothing to do with "hangovers" -------?

I've gone with people to do this before (and for interests sake - no, I wasn't the potential father... ) .. All of the above activities can be done in a day. It takes a solid chunk of the day, but c'est le vie. As far as the cost reduction from it going from prescription -> OTC, you'd know more about that than me.

What sort of change in cost would you see?

In a far more... "ideal" society, that's exactly what it would be used for.

But, in reality, you put it out as OTC and most of the people who buy it will use it, basically, as a method of birth control. I see no reason why that wouldn't be the case.

In some states they are already simply making it available over the counter to females without age restriction---in others where young women dont have that ability and/or are reticent to have a parent take them to the Dr (thereby admitting "sexual activity") are becoming pregnant---a 16 year old might have some difficulty seeing a Dr and getting a script for fear of her parents reprisals, plus it can extend the time possibly making the pill ineffective---the results happen day after day after day...
