Help me with my final PLEASE!!

I'm supposed to write an essay explaining how a case arrives before the US Supreme Court. Here are the steps I have so far:

>must be in original or appellate jurisdiction as defined by the Constitution
>losing-party writes why the Court should hear the case
>four of nine Justices must agree to hear the case
>Court must decide whether case is broad enough to affect the whole nation

It seems like I'm missing something. Anyone know?
