How did you spend your holidays/new years?
Hey everyone!
It's been a while since I posted here, and even longer since I was a regular in the forums. I've been pretty busy with things in the non-computer world, and so have really only been online to check email and the like.
But, I'm back for now, so I'm happy about that.
So, what's been happening with all of you? I heard about scott and a bunch of others quitting sysopt to come here, but never really heard any specifics or anything. So, what's the dealio?
Anyway... (back to the point of my post)
What did you all do in the last few weeks for holidays and new years?
I went to visit my mom and my girlfriend (as they both live in the same town), which was very fun. For Christmas, we opened our presents in the morning* and then later I went over to a friend's house and ate some food, drank some sparkling cider, talked on the phone for an hour or so, played StarCraft for a while, and then went home.
*(Definition of morning: when everyone has woken up; no earlier than 11am, and likely no earlier than 1pm.)
For new years, I stayed up all night playing FF7, watching movies, drinking various things, listening to music, etc., etc., etc. That was lots of fun and yeah.
So, enough about me.... what did you do?

I saw Ocean's 11 with my girl friend and it was awesome! Then we made a stop at my house for some good loving and went back to her house for the rest of the night. Once there we watched The Mummy and then watched the ball drop. It was better than it sounds.

We didn't have any vodka, so we had Bloody Scotches.
It's just like a Bloody Mary, except you use Scotch instead of Vodka. You also leave out the tomato juice, Tabasco, celery, etc. You just drink it out of the bottle.
Oh, and welcome back! |

I don't remember
Well, I do remember everything until just before New Years festivities bagan. And I remeber right afterwards, and the panic that ensued when I went outside, and the wifes car was missing. But that is taken care of now.
I pretty much just tried my best to make an appereance at all the parents houses(my wifes and my parents are divorced). That pretty much takes care of the whole event. Nothing really spectacular.

Sounds like people have had various though enjoyable experiences.
You mentioning Ocean's 11, e980238, reminded me of a couple movies that I had the pleasure of seeing. I saw Lord of the Rings (which was so much like I pictured it would be, and was just such an awesome movie) and Harry Potter (which was quite good, but sorta annoying in that it really left you hanging).
Keep on posting!^^^
Later.
p.s. Knothead: you have my kind of taste.

New Years:
Phase1:
Met up with a big group of good friends, went to a restaurant and stuffed ourselves with sushi.
Phase2:
Went to a house party, met some more good friends, had some more food and started with the serious drinks for big boys and big girls.
Phase3:
At the turn of the new year, went outside with fire-crackers and champagne, turned up the radio and waited for the count-down, sprayed each other with champagne and watched fire-works, dodged a few too.
Phase4:
Went to another house party, met some good friends from the good old school days, consumed some more alcohol, everything remained under control.
Phase5:
Went to a friends house, watched some manga's, overnighted. Head hit the pillow at 8am 1 Jan 2002.
Conclusion:
Mission succesful, all targets met.

It was the busiest holidays I ever had for my 24 years of life. Not a day off. I had only one small new year party, the rest of the time I spend on my project car with a friend. It's going well and it's been a satisfying holiday work. |

Working on a project car sounds like fun. I woulda been doing that, but I don't have a garage. So I am limited to working on mine during the warmer months.

I've got a garage, but no equipment, so I went to my friend's metalworking shop. Since this time of the year is quite low on business for him, we worked there. It was strange to spend January 1st working on a car door while he patched the floor.
I was used to take holidays as relaxing vacations. Not any more it seems. Hard work it was and still much to do, but I'm hoping for spring to come, so I can get this baby out.
