Don't waste all that fuel warming your car. don't destroy the environment.

drive with your car cold and put on another coat. 15 minutes every day for 3 months adds up to alot of used fossile fuels. CO2 emissions.

save the planet drive cold.

compared to AC use in the summer... 15 minutes of idle in the winter is barely a drop in the bucket.

CompuSTAR makes one of the best going---has a killer lcd remote and a military designed 2 way spread spectrum system that will start and confirm your engine is running from 6000! feet away---also carries a lifetime warranty---

http://www.compustar.org/products/2WSS.html

Lots of remote start info here if you dig around for it: http://www.the12volt.com/index.asp

Edit-----> You can get it starter only, alarm only or starter/alarm combined...

OnStar is a convenience thing that comes with GM vehicles. Its like AAA. They pick your crappy GM car up when it breaks down or when you need directions, etc.

I've got one, I'd have to check the brand.
Might not matter, though - they change them constantly.

I love mine - but it did take a while to get it working properly, even with pro installation.
Initially, I bought one just for the starter, like you want. Luckily, i had it done at a decent place that stands behind it, because it was a real problem. Worked good sometimes, other times not at all, other times it'd start spontaniously. After several attempts to get it right (over 6 months), we finally gave up & changed it to a premium system, which has worked great for well over a year now.
Main problem with the first one was that it's electronics simply wouldn't interact properly with the factory equipment.

My advice - stay away from the cheapies or DIY kits. Have a quality unit installed with a warranty. Expect to pay around $300 for a good middle-of the road unit w/o too many "bells & whistles".

Epi - you'd really like the programmable ones that start it every X hours so that it never gets really cold!
(No, mine doesn't...)
