Taking 'Christmas' out of carols
More 'logic' from those lovely zealots of fairness and fear of offending the minority. HERE!
This is how bad it is getting: Quote: |
And in Kansas, a school district buckled under pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union and did away with its yearly visit from Santa.

stupid, stupid, stupid...
Heard on the radio today that 87% of people are in favor of Christmas and its traditions.
On the other hand, I find foul language to any degree and sexual content on television offensive. I believe I'm probably in the 13% minority on that issue, but there's no chance of me getting that changed.
Goes to show where America's priorities have shifted.

Majority rules... So if we have a vote here on whether or not you should donate 100% of your assets to the community, are you going to do it?
.. I'll set the thread up now. I'm sure a nice cluster would do everyone well!
Personally, I think Christmas has become something that's entirely commercial... So I don't really care. I'd rather take the time to think of the kid that's going to the school who doesn't celebrate Christmas.
The kids will live without a yearly visit from some drunkard who obviously isn't Santa, and only depresses the children anyway.

| What does this have to do with the attack on Christmas by the ACLU bigots?

| And lets demonize Santa and further rob them of their childhood so they become even more neurotic and depressed..right!
Hey maybe then they'll try to drown the pangs of their spiritual poverty in materialism like everyone else and help fuel the economy!! What a good idea! |

Well I find this article sad that children have to suffer at the hands of adults who think they are making the right decisions. Frankly if I was in that situation I too would have pulled my kids out of the music program.
It saddens me that kids have to go through this today when its suppose to be a season of giving and loving and caring and instead they are bickering about a word.
Criminey, I look at my kids and they got most of the christmas songs by heart even ones that I don't remember and its a joy to watch my kids going around singing on top of thier lungs. I don't need to censor words as the songs are written by the orginal person who wrote them and never changed for years and years and years, why change the artist words?
Wow, im just sitting here dumbfounded by the news article. I guess I shouldn't be surpised with how other things in this world is going. At the same time it makes me grateful that my kids go to a good school (poor school) and they get the benfits of EVERYTHING and do not get short changed and are in a highly cultrual diversed school that do not sensor any traditions.
Kids school is pretty cool, Not only do they do the traditional holidays but they also include all the nationalities in that school. currently there are 7 differnet languages in thier school and the school makes every darn effort to include everyone and respect everyones cultural values from the small thing to the largest things including religion.

When your news source is Faux News, it would be helpful to provide more detail: What, exactly, does "buckled under pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union" mean? A law suit? What were they asking for, exactly? Was the response an unnecessary overreaction to a reasonable request? We'll never know from this story.

All this despite a Fox News poll recently released that showed 96 percent of Americans celebrate Christmas
| I don't buy the numbers. Nevertheless, the implication is that the majority opinion rules. In Iraq, the majority is Shiite Moslem. So, their religious dictates should be imposed upon the Iraq minority?
Personally, I don't care if Santa visits the class even though I'm not Christian. If it doesn't violate the 1st Amendment it's a local decision.
