Food Moral Dilemna

Ok...

Got a moral problem....

I won a bid on ebay..... after about 10 days and hadn't recieved anything, I sent an email to them..

The next day, I hear nothing...get nothing... So I send two more emails... one through ebay and one straight through.....

Still nothing... when I get home, there are two packages....

Both identical... they sent two by mistake... I only paid for one..

Now....

I still have not heard anything from my emails..

Do I give good feedback just on the basis that they sent two? even though I have not heard from them?

Or do I not send any feedback.. ? Or how long do I wait ???

They currently have 100% feedback so far..

The moral issue with feedback is this: are you going to feed back the second package? You're not entitled to it just because they made a mistake. (If the checker in the Safeway gives you change for a twenty when you paid with a ten, do you keep it? Because it's going to come out of the checker's salary.)

As for the ratings: you should rate them on their service (responsiveness, timeliness), not on their accidental generosity. On the other hand, clearly they weren't trying to shaft you. So it's your call, and I don't see a moral issue here at all.

Send the second one back unless the shipping is outrageous. In that case, notify them of their error and ask them to send you a UPS Pick-up tag and let them pay the shipping.

As far as feedback, it all depends of what the shipping agreement was. Ten days is not bad if you didn't pay for 2d day air or something like that. Shipping is always slow this time of year.

That is the problem... they won't reply to any emails...

I will send it back if they want it....but not out of my pocket...

As far as the feedback goes... the timeliness is not that big of a deal... but the communication factor is not very good... they have not sent one single message other than for me to send payment...

How long should I keep trying to contact them??

If you really want to cover your bases do a snail mail certified letter (not terribly expensive) asking that you be notified of what the seller wants you to do within 10 days or something. Also say that if you do not hear from them you will assume that they do not want the second item returned. I'm not sure what the value of the item in question is but this way you're making a good faith effort to do the right thing.

Why not try giving them a call, get their contact number through ebay's contact info page.

I see no moral dilemma on the feedback issue...rate them as Theo mentioned.

I would not send any more e-mails, try the call...leave a message explaining the situation if nobody answers. if you don't get a hold of them, I would keep the package until they contact you...only so much you can do without dipping into your own pocket.

I understand the following is not the case here, but I never even thought about why I could not get an email from the seller at eBay when I asked for a snail mail address to send payment. This email reply is a month almost to the day after the auction ended.

"Danny Xxxxxx
XXX Mxxxxxxx Ave
Saint ALbans, WV 25177

Sorry for the Late, Late, Reply. I had a Major System Crash.
If you are still interested in the HD, I still have it.
If you are Not, I will understand.

Thanks,
May God Bless You,
Dan"
