why dont it work?

ok, heres my question:

in my stupid question thread i tried to get an image into a reply. i have a free account w/ this site for free hosting.

i have uploaded images to this site and linked to them before. but, when i try to do it on this forum it didnt work. am i going about it the wrong way? when i click the "IMG" button(the one in the vB Code box in the post new thread page) it asks me for the URL to the image. i give it the link to my image at my site and all i get is the "dead image link" placeholder.

what am i doing wrong?

Dunno. What type of img file is it? IMG tag will only accept certain types of image files.

Try using the [ img] [ /img] tag directly (without the spaces ) and not use the button. May make a diff. <shrug>

I'm just guessing here but? punctuation? its real easy to get a comma switched with a period.

that could be but i doubt it. i copy/pasted the URL from the address bar.

the problem is , well i'm not 99% sure, but like 75% sure, that brinkster doesn't allow people to hotlink images off their server.

ie if i click ur link i get this

HTTP1.1 STATUS 403 Remote Access to this object forbidden This file cannot be directly accessed from a remote site, but must be linked through the Brinkster Member's site.

ok.. that works. i guess brinkster did away wi/ direct linking.(havent done it in a while from that site, anyways)
