Questions a manager would ask in a hotel?

For my SQL project Im suposed to make up some questions that a manager would ask and then answer those questions using the hotel database that we have created. Im trying to make unique questions but its hard to figure stuff out when I haven't had any real hotel experience hehe.

SO anyway, what would you want to ask if you were a manager?

ie: Which employee is performing the most services?
Which employee has the highest hourly rate?
Which customers reserved their room the day before they checked in?

things like that.

Who am I asking? The customers?

Sir, did you get the mint on your pillow? Would you like turn-down service? Would you like a wake-up call? May we recommend a local restaurant? Are you a member of our whatever club?

Average time period customers cancelled room before check in date
Number of cancellations per month
Which rooms are requested most big money rooms or average rooms.
How many smoking rooms
how many non-smoking rooms
How many pet rooms if applicable
Payment methods - Check/cash/AMEX/Discover/etc
How many people requested multiple rooms (maybe they need to make some larger suites)
Average length of stay

That should get you started

Folks he's trying to find questions a manager would ask a data analyst for reports on the hotel performance etc.

I stayed at a nice hotel in St. Louis on business earlier this year. There was a jack in the phone for dial-up service but it was slow as molasses in January, 14.4k down to nothing. So I asked at the front desk, why is the dial-up so slow? You'd have thought I was asking the girl some real difficult technical question, she writes down my name and room # then says, "Sorry, sir, we don't have high-speed internet."

No kidding!!

Is there a way to group the times the services were performed into a column of before 12pm and after 12pm? Would that require a view?

if its in sql server, you can use DATEPART to pull the hour.
http://www.schemamania.org/jkl/books...ml/da-db_8.htm

then put a case statement in the sql statement to create a virtual column of 1 and 0 depending on the morning and night then group on that column....

or something like that
