Ive become a satellite radio junky---

Got it in the ride---Pioneer XM behind a killer JL setup

Ditto in the pad--- SKYFi attached to my class A surround system

Got the boombox add on---for tunes on the beach, in the rent-a-car, hotel etc SKYFi plugs into it...

Digital satellite with 100+ channels, 10$ monthly with a family plan so add-ons are 6$ a month---ive NEVER had the ability to listen to so diverse a selection of music instantly in my life---im listening to music ive NEVER been able to---every type of music you can imagine with special programming on a regular basis emailed to you---it isnt 100% commercial free XM does have 30 channels that are tho---they play 6 mins of commercials per hour on "some" channels although ive only heard 1 in 3 months---

Sirius is its counterpart offering similar service with a few different features including equipment manufacturers---

You can check XM out here http://www.xmradio.com/index.jsp and listen to some streams on the left side of the page---

Look at Sirius here http://www.sirius.com/

Add-on systems can be had cheaply for a car unit you already have (Roady or XM Commander) and home units are available so you can use a system both in the car and home on 1 subscription---

There are fansites with forums etc so you can really check it out from the users standpoint---

Here is the XM site http://www.xmfan.com/

Have a look---ive really been surprised at my level of satisfaction...

Yeah, I've looked into it. It's a pretty neat idea, although I'm not fond of the idea of paying for radio stations, it goes along the same theory as paying for Satellite TV, so what the heck

I do like the diversity, comedy channels, talk radio channels, along with the music channels. Worked on a job where the guy built his own boom box ( heavy sucker, made outta wood ) and ran Sat Radio through it...pretty nice deal he had. At least they keep the price at a reasonable level for such a new product.

I remember when AOL first started and all they offered was 'by the hour' and people were racking up bills in the hundreds. Usually you have to have a lot of disposable income to embrace new technology.

I can't see another monthly bill. Look at all the bills we now have that we didn't a few years ago, cell bill, Internet bill, satellite/cable bill. I don't need another.
