Hotmail gone down the tubes for free users?

Does anybody else have a problem using Hotmail these days?

In the recent 2 months (I think) Hotmail has slowly but surely changed the options and some of the options now available, don't work right.

Things that I have noticed that have changed:
  • Cannot forward an email if the setup is set properly..like using these >>> signs for a forward or reply to be used in the original text. If the option is set to none, the forwarded email will be blank.
  • If an email is received in rich text, and is replied to or forwarded, it will not be in rich text. There does not appear to have a reply or forward message setup in a rich text format. I have not tried yet, but I may be able to generate an email from Hotmail in rich text.
  • Images are not displayed in the email..they are there as an attachment..even if the image was inserted in a rich text mail. If an effort is made to view the image, up pops a new sign in screen and you must type in your password again. This is goes round and around...you arrive back to your in box after retyping your P/W...then you (once again) attempt to get to the image (download option) and again, it asks for your P/W.
  • Images will not be attached to a forward email automatically. I'm not sure right now if an incoming email with an attachment can even be reattached to the same mail when forwarded.
  • I cannot find my address book anymore. My contacts are there, but no way to add more as needed.
  • Anybody here have the paid version?... ($19.95/year) if so, do you have any problems like I have named...so far.
  • I have spent several hours at Hotmail, sending all sorts of emails between my POP acct and Hotmail, then back to my POP acct..its frustrating... Their help menu does not address my concerns, and the options are woefully lacking in setup options IMO.
I have an opinion that far too many Hotmail free users have not signed up for the paid subscription, and Hotmail/MSN are subtly trying to force more paid subscriptions for the service..thoughts?

I know there are other freebie email services, and I may have to use another one...but I have had Hotmail so many years...plus many many friends and acquaintances whom I do not keep in touch with have my Hotmail address and can recontact me if I change POP servers..some of these people I don't even know how to contact now..so..if I change internet email services, someone will eventually come up blank if they need to recontact me.

Besides Yahoo and Myway.com...what are some of the others?

It's because they've switched Hotmail from the system it used to have to Exchange Server 2003. Maybe when enough people complain (just about everybody has, so you're not alone), they'll add the features they've dropped to the system.

I can't comment on the other problems you're experiencing, but to add contacts, click on the Contacts tab and click on New at the top right of the bar. There you will able to add new email addies.

Well..thanks for the input...so far. Something ain't right. Maybe its the different servers?... Hotmail (as others do) have quite a few different servers. Maybe they are doing (upgrading [screwing up] a few at a time?

I am reasonably computer literate..and can figure out what I need when I must...this time, it has been a bust!!...and it ain't all me!

Thanks guys, please keep the input coming...

If your Hotmail interface plus setup options etc. remain the same as always... reinforce my thinking that Hotmail/MSN are changing the service from one server to another..one by one..

.....Unless you are a paid subscriber.

My Hotmail site has changed a lot over the past couple of months.
