Considering he wrote most of it a century before, that would be quite impressive. Wagner just took the hero-themes of Germanic folklore and put them to music. Germany wasn't a unified nation until 1848-1870, so it was powerful stuff, just like Verdi to the Italians.

as for the Beatles, the old "musical differences" got them in the end with such prodigious talents, and Ringo, it was inevitable that as they matured they would go in different directions. John went the abstract hippy way, greatly influenced by Yoko, Paul's interests lay in folk and getting back to basics, while George (the true genius of the band IMO) went the more pop/rock way, was a very effective producer , and could work with other musicians without feeling superior (Travelling Wilburys was a great project - the last supergroup)
