Is Bush the "Anti-Christ" to social liberalism?
I've been trying to figure out the intense deep-seated hatred of Bush by some in the Democratic party and the other fringe parties.
What I've come up with, after much thought, is that these groups must view Bush as the Anti-Christ as it relates to 50 years plus of social liberalism.
If he wins (and I think he will) next November and he has "coat tails" the mere thought of this, let alone the actuality, is so scary to the activist wings of the party that I believe they will stop at almost nothing to try and stop his re-election.
The thought of any movement to the right even if it is centrist as related to what they have gained over 50 years of power must keep them awake at nights.
This election will be the dirtiest of all time and I fear will permanently stain our country and result in a new divide in our political system.
Thoughts? Anyone?
Bill

For me, I want a leader that I can look up to intellectually. I thought GWB looked like a deer caught in the headlights during the 2000 debates and anyone who publically proclaims a disdain for reading is not going to be high on my list of role models.
I don't think (as many do) that he's a bad guy, I just think he's a rather uninteresting and not very intelligent guy who lacks any curiosity about the world around him.
That's a start. |

Luckily, this time around, I get to actually vote.
He has publicly acknowledged a disdain for reading? When did that happen? I must have missed (or forgotten) this..

He told Brit Hume in an interview that he didn't read any newspapers, but just relied on his staff to tell him what he needed to know. I don't recall the particulars, but I'm pretty sure that he stated back during the last campaign that he didn't really like to read.

I can see where liberals would have a problem with honesty. |

Hey, I don't have a problem with his honesty on that issue. I just don't want a guy that doesn't read leading our country. |

Hard to think of him as the Antichrist when he's just a sock puppet for Karl Rove...

HUME: Is that a book or...
BUSH: No, it's just a couple of pieces of paper, prepared by the -- now the Department of Homeland Security. They take information from the FBI, the CIA, and they analyze the threats, potential threats to America. I look at them here, I go through mail (ph). Remember I told you I can pick up the phone and call my mother and dad occasionally rack them out of the sack early. And then at 8:00, generally Andy Card will be here when I walk in. He's here earlier than I am. And he'll be here with the latest, and I'll ask him what's in the newspapers worth worrying about, or, you know...
HUME: And he'll say, nothing?
BUSH: No, he'll say something. Then at 8:00, Tenet, vice president, Condi, Andy and a CIA briefer come in. And shortly thereafter, Tom Ridge, Bob Mueller, and John Gordon, national security adviser for all my security will -- and Fran Townsend will complete the room, and we'll analyze the threats. And Tenet will have gone through things that will be strictly overseas business, and then we'll go through, analyze the threats and then either go downstairs for a big National Security Council meeting or...
HUME: How often do those occur?
BUSH: Once a week, or twice a week.
