Boy Punished for Talking About Gay Mom

Quote:
Dec. 1, 2003 | LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) -- A 7-year-old boy was scolded and forced to write "I will never use the word `gay' in school again" after he told a classmate about his lesbian mother, the American Civil Liberties Union alleged Monday.

Second-grader Marcus McLaurin was waiting for recess Nov. 11 at Ernest Gaullet Elementary School when a classmate asked about Marcus' mother and father, the ACLU said in a complaint.

Marcus responded he had two mothers because his mother is gay. When the other child asked for explanation, Marcus told him: "Gay is when a girl likes another girl," according to the complaint.

A teacher who heard the remark scolded Marcus, telling him "gay" was a "bad word" and sending him to the principal's office. The following week, Marcus had to come to school early and repeatedly write: "I will never use the word `gay' in school again."

A phone message left for Lafayette Parish schools superintendent James Easton was not immediately returned.

The ACLU is demanding the case be removed from Marcus' file and that the school apologize to the boy and his mother, Sharon Huff.

"I was concerned when the assistant principal called and told me my son had said a word so bad that he didn't want to repeat it over the phone," Huff said. "But that was nothing compared to the shock I felt when my little boy came home and told me that his teacher had told him his family is a dirty word."

that situation is so twisted in so many ways that it is hard to comment on it at all, hehe. It is sad that we have come to the palce where it is hard to find solid ground anymore to make an argument from concerning any sort of common sense.

Also, at the risk of another ripping flame war this week, lol...I submit to you all that every institution we "need" for a decent world..WILL crumble. Govt, schools, hospitals, police, military, economy etc....they will crumble. Teetering now...sorta like that famous failure of the tacoma narrows bridge, once it started oscillating...there was no turning back, lol.

Threads like this and 50 others only show it more clearly every week as time passes. You are looking at the passing away of this world as clearly as you watch a man dying of cancer decline thru the last stages of his life....is he really gonna revive after he gets down to 75 lbs?

Pick an institution we all rely on and "need" or traditionally have needed for a stable world...find me ONE that isnt marked with hopelessness, corruption, decay, decline, confusion, scandal....lol. Good luck.

I believe that word would be God. Full of hope, no corruption, decay, decline or scandel. Confusion is only caused by our ignorance.

That school is totally fu**ed!

God may be free from decline

But religious institutions are subject to the same decline mentioned above.

I am not sure what is politically correct.

Gay is a term, which is frequently used in a derogatory manner.

Akin to faggot, queer in it’s usage.

I am not sure if the kid should be using such a term. Perhaps homosexual or lesbian would be more appropriate.

Dam political correct speak. Language changes too fast.

The action by the school is the symptom. Homosexuality is the disease.

This isn’t the only conundrum caused by homosexuality. It's pretty clear that we've crossed the line as a society of what should be considered acceptable. I feel bad for the school officials that are going to get lynched by the PC police for upholding morality in our youth. I also feel bad for this kid because his mother and her partner are putting him through this with their deviant behavior.
