What's Dean hiding? Nah, not Howie.
Quote: |
As investigative reporters and “oppo” researchers flock to Vermont to dig into Howard Dean’s past, they have run into a roadblock. A large chunk of Dean’s records as governor are locked in a remote state warehouse—the result of an aggressive legal strategy designed in part to protect Dean from political attacks.

Don't let the picture scare you BTW!! What’s in Howard Dean’s Secret Vermont Files?
Just another politician.

Maybe he has Jimmy Haifa in there! Howard Hughes, the real Micheal Jackson, Elvis, or Walt.

Hum, interesting. However, it seems very much like what Bush has done.
"In November 2001 President Bush signed an executive to limit access to presidential papers. The order was framed as an interpretation of the 1978 Presidential Records Act, but in fact the order nullifies the law. The Bush order stipulates that both former and current presidents have unlimited veto power over the release of presidential records. Attempts to overrule the veto require a "demonstrated, specific need" and a lengthy gantlet of appeals. Otherwise, the documents remain closed indefinitely." http://www.sa2.info/VOICES/2002/presidential.html

And Governor George W. Bush's papers are stored with the President George H. W. Bush archives, and thus not available for inspection.

Thanks for the links!!
But isn't it a little disingenuous to say Bush did so Dean can do it?
I thought he was supposed to be the "saviour" of political practices?

| I do have to agree with you here Bill if what you are saying is equal access. Just because Bush can hide his papers should not justify Dean or anyone else doing the same. But then we have to take your linked story (which I've yet to read, BTW) at face value and assume it's an attempt at objective journalism and not another conservative witch hunt.

i have to agree TOAD, they aren't looking at it for history's sake. They are trying to find whatever dirt they can to use against Dean while Bush is conveniently immuned because his records are sealed. In other words, they are looking for more unfair advantage - as if a $200M lead isn't enough.

I think Bush and Dean are very worried men.
For the same reason.
What if they don't win?
