Kids Power of 10? (for fitness buffs)

I saw this on 48 Hours and kinda chuckled that this "fitness" regime would work. But, some say it does work.

Quote:
Power-of-10 is a full-blown fitness revolution-based on a remarkably advanced yet simple discovery: By lifting weights in a series of ultra-slow movements that last 10 seconds each, you can stimulate lean muscle formation far more efficiently and safely than regular weight lifting or aerobics.

Together with a healthy nutrition plan and a focus on rest and recovery, Power-of-10 is so effective that as little as one 20-minute workout per week is enough to build muscle, burn fat, and improve cardiovascular health at any age. No wonder people find it hard to believe, Until they try their first workout!

Makes sense if you're doing this 2-3x a week plus cardio and doing reps with lighter weights to build definition, but I don't understand how working out for 20 minutes once a week can build/maintain muscle, drop/maintain weight and improve/maintain cardio even with the heaviest weight-load that one could handle.

I'm too entrenched in my routine to consider trying it, but just curious if anyone else know someone does it, or does anyone here do this "Power of 10" workout?

as Martoch would say: *flex!* ;D

i have heard of this method, but only 20 minutes a week is not suffice.

to get in shape, you have to excerise thats the bottom line.

what is your intesest socalgal? to get tone or to get really buff like those scary women and that pick men up and make them in a pretzel with one hand?

I saw a pic of you once..so I KNOW you werent born yesterday! lol.

Can you say "marketing crap"

Superslow reps have been around for a good while..they are really easy on the joints...and it is true that most of us use soem momentum to cheat even if it is almost imperceptible....so superslow reps have their place....but obviously the statements above are just typical totally outlandish marketing for fat lazy Americans....hard to believe such statements are even allowed.

Try some superslow reps...I mean superrrrrrr slowwwwwww....you'll find that you can only use a light weight but you still get a good workout.

My favorite arm exercise is dumbell curls...last year I worked up to 55lb dumbells...doing the reps sort of "explosively"..not too worried about perfect form but still pretty strict (perfectionist)...anyway, after a few weeks both of my lower biceps were killer sore at the joints...not a good kind of sore, lol.

So I thought I had wrecked em, but I just had to go to light weights and really slow it down some....Im 36, so I need to remember that all that jerking of heavy weights with poor form is for the young guys, lol. Us older gents need to THINK at least a little about what we are doing.

So superslow reps can have their place....but no one is going to make a full routine out of them.

Of course, the type of rep. sets, schemes, splits etc that you do is secondary anyway...the main things are concentration, focus, determination...and the number one all time thing needed is--------> HONESTY....dont kid yourself...only YOU know if you are putting forth a decent effort....Im sure a fat lazy slob could do superlsow reps and stay fat and lazy...because certain types always find a way to cheat (themselves)

LOL GZ3 no.... I'm in fairly good shape muscularly and pretty defined, imo just that little layer of persistent fat that's always buggin' me. I have no desire to turn guys into pretzels - they're just fine as guys.

Just curiosity and yeah, I'm thinking that it's just marketing hype to make this guy rich to sell books :P I should write a dang book.
