what's the best way to get rid of pop-up ads?

Usually clicking on the "X" in the top corner of the pop up ad works for me... j/k Try going to www.download.com and search for programs that kill pop-ups.. Other members here will have better links and will know the good programs.. Good luck..

For sites you visit regularly, pay attention to the address immediately after they appear and before they take on a title. Then goto IE > Tools > Internet Options > Security >Restricted Sites > Sites. Then Add the address (up to .whatever) and there you have it, no more pop ads. This method works decent.

Use Konqueror or Opera and set it to refuse popups. No extra software. The setting is built in to both browsers preferences.
