interesting. for those of you without broadband, and even then, without patience, it says:

ipod's unreplaceable battery only lasts 18 months

apparently, you cant replace the battery for less then the cost of a new one -- thats so jacked up

they probably look at it like cell phones..disposable..saw clip on news about the millions of cell phones thrown away every year etc.

maybe they figure 18 months is average life if tech device before its replaced/upgraded

I think they have a deal where you can get the batt (or have a new one installed) for under 100$, still no deal...

Like most people, twenty years ago I thought Apple was the "People Technology" leader against the evil empire of IBM (especially in personal computers).

Then I found out that Apple used the same components with a different pin out to charge me more!

Does this also go somewhere with the Windows has so many updates. Mac doesn't have free updates. Mac just has pay for upgrades!
