Anyone get calls on the phone after work?

Well I was sitting down enjoying my evening off work after a semi-busy day enjoying some beverages and I get a call about one of the service calls I did today.

I was asked many questions about what happened and how I was going to fix it not to mention me phoning long distance on my home number. How did they track me down? Better yet how did they find my home number??

When I leave work I don't want to worry about anything other than what is going down on the internet or my throat and certainly not what I need to fix. I don't get paid enough for that.

I'm sure they want to get everything back to normal but not on my free time. Hmm this is almost starting to sound like a rant thread.

Anyway anyone else have to deal with this?

That's why I don't give my work my cell number. I have a work pager. If I "accidently" forget it... Oops. I have my home number but that's easy enough to screen.

If you've EVER called them from home, they may have kept the number if they have Caller ID.

That's why I have "caller ID blocking" on my home AND cell numbers. I don't want ANYONE to have it unless I give it out verbally!!

That would probably be illegal over here under the data protection ACT of 1998. Not a good idea for companies to follow.

I have thought a little about this but I dont know the ins and outs. If someone calls me on my business number..which is my cell phone. Say I then call them back later on my regular home phone...how do I keep them from getting that number? (so they dont bug me at all hours etc)

Is it *67 before you dial or something like that?

I believe it is *67 to block your number when you phone.

I'm very reluctant to give out my home number. People ask me what my cell phone number is and I say I don't have one, which I don't.

To answer John's question I'm a computer repair tech. The persons that phoned me were the owners of a local hotel. The thing is the girls behind the counter phoned the owners in the morning that the computer was acting up and it wasn't until like 3 pm when they got ahold of me. I went over to take a look at what was wrong.

The hard drive sounded like someone was grinding a piece of metal (not good) so I called the owners to see what they wanted to do... They said they'd get back to me.. I didn't think that they meant at 9 pm!!

Well this morning I went over with a new HDD and met the owner.. He was not happy that everything for the last 2 years was not backed up.. Hmm reminds me of that guy who phoned Canon on that calls form hell tech site.

Anyway he was upset and ended up buying a new/used computer off us.. Said that he was fed up with that old machine.

Well when I got everything set up thier room reservation program came up with August 15 2001 the girls were not happy.

Maybe now when the owner gets a panic call from the girls behind the counter he's not going to wait so long before doing something about it.

Remeber back up often because this could happen to you!!

Now is your chance to figure out a good backup scheme to pitch to him....set up $ome more bizne$$ for yourself. Cuz that is the sort of horror story data loss story that people use to SELL backup solutions! lol.
