Does this bother anyone else?
http://www.wired.com/news/technology...,61357,00.html
For those of you who don't want to read:
Applied Digital Solutions has developed / is working on technology that would allow their Verichip design to both be implanted sub-dermally (already available) and to replace credit card numbers as a means of making a transaction. Essentially, you'd have an RFID tag injected into you which was capable of transmitting your credit card (or other personal information) when scanned. This is supposed to alleviate a great deal of theft / piracy concerns, though obviously there would be other issues over the safety of the wireless security, etc.
Ok, I've tried to keep that part free of any opinion and just give a quick summary of the article. Here's where my personal thoughts kick in:
I'm a Christian, but not a Bible literalist. I don't believe the Earth was literally created in seven days, or that Revelation is a literal story of the end of the world. I do not believe that the earth is in its "End Days" or that Armageddon is drawing nigh (though I will grant that, logically speaking, "The End" is closer now then it was when I began this post. *grin*).
With all that said, I'm still a bit uneasy about this idea. We might not ever call it the "Mark of the Beast", but the concept of radio tagging people (and making it a requirement) really doesn't strike me as so far fetched in a time when terrorist concerns have governments considering universal (mandatory) ID cards and new forms of security. Verichip likes to point out that their chip is optional, but there are ways around that. It could be, for example, that different security clearances could be attached to the status of being "chipped" or not, and high-level access / priviledges would simply be unavailable to those who refused.
So--I don't think the end is nigh and I don't think the government is watching us all with black helicopters--but I do think that the idea of injected radio transmitters makes me very uneasy for a LOT of different reasons. Anyone else?

Well, I will say I agree with your thoughts concerning Christianity, the Bible in general, creation in 7 days flat..etc. etc., but.. I would also like to add that I am old enough to know a little about the early days of Social Security...same thing back then...everybody associated the SS# with the mark of the Beast etc...could be I guess.
Now, about the embedded CC Number...hmmmmm.. I have had plastic that went belly up..what happens after an embedded chip with some CC type number suddenly disappears?.

I'm not a Christian at all, and it bothers me.
A few years agos, NPR had an April Fool's story about people agreeing to have a bar-code tattoo in exchange for discounts on merchandise. A lot of listeners were taken in because it was too close to the truth.
You can already have RFID tags for your pets, in case they get lost or stolen. RFID tags for humans is way too Big-Brothery for me.

WOW cool a chip they can scan by satelite and find you anywhere at anytime. Reminds me of minority report.
problem is people can get illigal devices to steal your information and people would be lkilling each other to steal their chips.
Lets just say we have a lot less rich people in the world...

I think you are right for being sceptical...hehe. Since you are a Christian you follow God and you know you have an enemy called the devil....saddam isnt your enemy, or osama, etc..MAN..isnt your enemy, the devil is...so IN THAT LIGHT..ask yourself what purposes the RFID chips would have..what sort of things would the devil like to use them for??
".....time when terrorist concerns have governments considering universal (mandatory) ID cards and new forms of security. Verichip likes to point out that their chip is optional, but there are ways around that. It could be, for example, that different security clearances could be attached to the status of being "chipped" or not, and high-level access / priviledges would simply be unavailable to those who refused"
Hehe.
The thing is to not let nice warm fuzzy notions of society blah blah cloud your mind...its not "society" that is behind these things, its the devil who has his plan to try to counter Gods plan. So if the rfid chips are "introduced" into society to keep inventory from being stolen....we all swallow that pill easily...if they are used to track terrorists, we sort of get "nervous" but we grudgingly accept it...then all the tracking equipment and terminology is in place. lol. Things are much more easily introduced if they come in under the guise of something good...like when your mom used to put your medicine in a coke and/or tell you it build big muscles, lol.
of course we cant overlook the role of our beloved internet! Ohh, the advantages of it, the progress of mankind, instant information, medical info and communications for the sick, no more barriers for teaching etc etc.....but we also have put in place a world infrastructure to track everything and everybody. lol....(yeah right...try realllllllll hard to convince yourself that your govt wouldnt ever use such a thing for control purposes, lol..or that a leader such as hitler or stalin or napolean wouldnt take advantage of the internet or its functions...do you think hitler would have hesitated for a second to track jews thru the internet??..he used tanks, cars, radios, loudspeakers, ovens, medicine, etc etc for his purposes...do you think the internet wouldnt have been used?????? Remember, that was less than 50 years ago, lol...dont hide in a cave and say things like that couldnt happen "nowadays")
Who will eventually be tracked?? Well, it will be, like the terrorists of today...it will be those who dont agree with the government..those who dont live by the standards of the world...those who sow hate and rebellion by stirring up controversy...those who speak out againt things...in other words......
.........it will be YOU if you still claim to be a Christian by then....of course there will be the "state" version of what a "christian" is..they will be wholly and totally accepted..by man anyway....they will have their gay pastors and such...they will still get govt tax breaks etc etc....they will still have some form of a "bible" to use, lol.....but if you claim to follow the old school bible, claim to follow the words of Jesus literally...you will be an enemy of the state.
Oh pulleaseee..act like it's far fetched, lol. The reality is so close but we dont want to see it.
So personally, from me to you, I think the "rub" will come right here with these statements...
"I'm a Christian, but not a Bible literalist. I don't believe the Earth was literally created in seven days, or that Revelation is a literal story of the end of the world."
As a stranger, I would advise you and all of us to really decide EXACTLY WHAT we believe..because the time will come to make a stand on it..just as we have run some of the "preliminary" testings already, lol....a generation ago the "christians" decided divorce was no big deal (nevermind that Jesus dude and what he said)..and now the choice is here on the table today about gay "christian" leaders and homosexuality in general...do we go with what the bible says, literally...or do we "modernize" it bit....well, I think any knucklehead can see what the "state" version will be.
So to summarize I would say that right now all is still sorta "free and easy"..but it's still a perilous time...like the calm before the storm. You can believe whatever you want right now and the only consequences are the growing angst against being a "literalist" Christian....but it will change slowly but surely...even things like 9/11 play into the plan because, as you stated, the resulting legislation and attitudes of fear etc will allow the govt an open entry to set up a better "control" system, lol. RFID? Just a small part of the equation.
Eventually it will look similar to this.
There will be a "govt approved" Christian church, or maybe we will just do away with the "Christian" part altogether....we may just have one govt approved religion....where (sniff sniff, warm fuzzy feeling) "all the children of the world can worship together in harmony and love without the devisiveness and close mindedness that plagued us in the past"...these churches will recieve funding and tax breaks etc etc...they will be schools as well as churches.
So probably the whole "seperation of state and church" thingy will totally reverse, lol...where it will be unlawful TO seperate state and church.
But of course there will be a FEW stipulations, lol...along the lines of...
They CANT say that Christ is the ACTUAL LITERAL Son of God
They CANT say that Christ is the only way to God and/or heaven.
They CANT say that Mohammed, Buddha or Joseph Smith is false.
They can freely believe in Jesus and worship him, right alongside whomever the fellow next to them worships.
They obviously wont be able to speak against abortion or any "alternate" lifestyle...matter of fact the word "alternate" may fall into disuse altogether.
They CANT object if the fella next to them believes God has three elephant heads and is blue, lol.
Obviously they wont be allowed to speak out against the govt of the world or question this or that.
basically they cant say 99% of the things I have said in posts for the last few days, lol.
Those type of "christians" will be good to go...they will live in harmony witht he world..no more tension or blooshed or judgement.
Then there will be the "literalist" Christians who believe Jesus was and is the true Son of God.
They will be seen as close minded (cuz actually..they ARE.)
They will be seen as purveyors of lie and hate.
They will be like a relic of a sad old passed away order.
Basically they will be criminals against the state.
Even myself...hehe, Its sort of too late for me, because...obviously whatever you post today is here forever, lol. I will be given the chance to retract my statements and to "fall in line". But there will be the real "rub"....you will be given the chance to deny Jesus as being the true and only Son of God..fair enough, if you deny you will be "ok", you can continue to work and buy groceries, lol......but if you dont deny, err, well, uhh...
The problem being that if you deny HIM down here..He will deny YOU, UP THERE.
Life as usual just boils down to a series of choices.
You say to yourself... "man, JP is whack, that dude is out there".....it may seem far fetched...but 40 years ago you would have been sent to a loony bin for saying a man would stand on the moon and come back to earth safely.....30 years ago you would have been saying it would be impossible to have world wide instant communication...hehe.
I even dare to say that 20 short years ago...1983...you would have been laffed at if you had said that there would be openly appointed and approved gay clergy in America. So the things that seem outlandish today will creep on into the picture...they will each come in with outwardly noble reasons but their will be hidden snares.
Be patient, you'll see.
Print it out, look at it, set it aside, watch the news, look at it some more, watch the EU, watch the world currency coming together, look at it some more, lol....watch the growing hate of the Jews, watch the steady increase of things like
the Ten Commandments and references to the Biblical version of God being stricken from any Govt facility or paperwork or currency, watch the incredible growth of cloning and "life producing" sciences (like the cloned fish that are for sale now that scientist 'cant see any reason for not allowing to be sold'), watch the steady and spactacular growth of the occult and such in childrens games and adult shows on TV (its incredible now if you think back 20 years..what started maybe with, uhh, say "bewitched" has blossomed full grown huh)
I could go on and on, lol.
print it out, watch it come true before your very eyes.
JP

I'll give John credit for taking the time to write it--even if it was closer to novel length.
Looking back in history there has often been opposition (on religious grounds) to things we think of as absolutely silly today. One of my favorites was a religious opposition to Daylight Savings Time, as it was mucking around with the notion of "God's Time"--this was obviously before Einstein proved that time, in fact, is flexible and not an absolute.
With that said, I don't oppose RFID directly on religious grounds--but the religious sentiments are enough to make me uneasy. And although I am not a literalist, I will admit, the literal parallel between the "injection" and the "mark" don't help any.
I guess in the end I look at it like this: If there is no religious connection than this is something that can be fought and defeated. If there IS a religious connection, well, then, what's going to happen is locked in stone and therefore there's not a damn thing I can do to change it.
Anyway, point is this: I won't be getting chipped. Not now, not ever. I DO like the idea (somewhat) of a health monitor for the elderly and I wouldn't oppose that idea so long as the conditions of the device are VERY clearly laid out and limited--but no way am I going to become a corporate walking credit card.

awwww, wead just a wittle at a time and our wittle bwainsies wont get all tireded. lol.
Frankly I dont blame you guys for reading it..or at least for denying reading it....cuz its more straightforward truth than most people are willing to face up to..much easier to keep up the happy facades...(like standing around a dying person and telling em they will be ok, lol)
