Win98 is higher than XP at newegg

Does this mean anything ?

Before the release of XP, Win98 dropped like a rock in price.

Since its release, 98 has steadily risen in price, WHY ?

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition $87.00

Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition $91.00

My guess would be microsoft has decreased the output of Win 98 since they released XP, so they're concentrating on ME, 2000 and XP now. The price hike is because supply is down, but demand is probably the same as it was before XP came out, so the prices rise.

Like I said, supply and demand. M$ is expecting everyone to buy into their new hype about XP, so they're lowering the output of 98 while increasing all other OSes after 98 (ME, 2000, XP). Anyone with half a brain realizes that XP first edition (can't pass judgement on versions that haven't been released) is a piece of crap, so they rush out to buy a proven OS (98 SE is the most end-user friendly MS OS that's been around for more than a year) whose supply has lowered. An economics class teaches you that as supply goes up and demand goes down, prices fall, and when demand is up and supply is down, prices rise.

erm... I like XP *cough*....

No really. I've really loved it the last 2 weeks of owning it. I had win98se on both my PC's before. I was tired of the BSOD's. Since the upgrade I've only had a few errors with my MP3 player. Everything else has been extremely stable, fast, powerfull, and just plain cool!
