Yummy Cranberry Sauce

I really like this recipe!

Cranberry Sauce

2-3 large oranges
1 1/3 cups sugar
2 12 oz. bags cranberries
1/2-1 cup water

Zest the oranges, peel them, then remove as much of the white pith as possible. Take out any pithy stuff from the center of the fruit, and if using seeded oranges, remove the seeds.

Wash and pick over the cranberries.

Grind the oranges, sugar, and 1/3 of the cranberries together. Put mixture in a pot.

Add the rest of the cranberries, the orange zest, and more or less of the water (depending on how juicy the oranges are) into the pot. Simmer all the ingredients for 12-15 minutes; all the whole cranberries should burst open. Cool.

Enjoy!

We make that kind as well as raw where all the cranberries are ground w/ the oranges, pith and all. We use a meat grinder, works excellent.

Wow. Sounds great. I've never had cranberry sauce that didn't have those can lines in it.

I used to work near a turkey farm that had killer turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce pockets. They were awesome.

Surreal--

I know what you mean; I'm really the only one in my family who loves the stuff--others just take a small amount. You're so right about putting it on turkey sandwiches--I agree that that's delicious!

Gomer--

Your raw stuff sounds good--what are your cranberry, orange, and sugar proportions?

M_Six--

You should make it--it's super easy!

Tuna salad is super easy. Microwave hotdogs are super easy. For anything else, there's restaurants.

Actually we're debating whether or not to cook this year. It's just the two of us and last year we spent hours making a dinner that was over before we knew it. It's not the same as when you're with the whole family. We'll probably cook, but making my own cranberry sauce is stretching it.

Still, yours sounds great.
