Well Geocities is free and it has FTP acces so that's why it is pretty good but you still have a banner, well that can be solved take a geocities account like in my case
http://www.xxxxx.com(if you click on it put index.htm after it) then type
http://www.yourname.tk in my case GohansPlace and you can register your own name, it will hide you old name (the geocities thing) and if you go too the .tk link you won't see a banner anymore, so what do you want more a
www.yourname.tk link that hide the real url and a free host with ftp acces and without a banner or popup
