do you hate to throw stuff away?

I hate throwing stuff away. Right now I have a hot water heater and a push lawn mower in my garage, the lawn mower has been falling apart for years and i kept slapping it back together, we got a new one, but I just couldn't throw the old one away, the hot water heater was thought to be bad, so i put a new one in, turned out it was only a minor problem, (a couple of burnt wires), kept tyhe new one anyways because it's larger and suits our needs better, but for months I couldn't throw it away, I even tried to give it away, asked around but there were no takers, so today the in-laws are coming in and i'm under strict orders to dispose of them, so to the dump i go, I'm gonna miss working on that old lawn mower

other stuff I keep for seemingly no reason, I have four bags of empty baby food jars, (i use them for paint sometimes) i'll never use all of them, yet I still have them, I keep all my parking passes from each semester at school? Tons of other crap too, I just can't seem to throw it away...

so who else is a pack rat?

Absolutely. I have canceled checks going back to 1969. I have over forty cartons of boxed-up paperback murder mysteries and science fiction in a cubby under my eaves. I have bags full of cables for obsolete computers. I have operating manuals for electronic equipment and appliances I no longer own. I have ancient suitcases too heavy (or too worn-out) ever to use again.

I have my grade-school diploma.

I would take some pictures of the stuff I keep under my bed, but it may scare younger members

Anyone care for 286 chips, motherboards, bags of 30pin SIMMS, 10Mb hard drives... even a case or two. Boxes of cables.... nothing gets binned..

I very seldom throw any thing away. I just move to a different room when one gets full.

Yes. I'll keep useless items for years, or even decades. Rearranging them every couple years, just to make it look like I need them.

And when I finally break down and throw something away, I'll need it the next day.

Why throw it away when you can sell it? One man's trash is another man's treasure.

- Movie tickets from years and years ago

- AOL cds (I've broken that habit though)

- BAWLS bottles (broken that one too - but they are so cool looking)
