Do pets really remember?
Some people say that pets are just stupid, some people say they are smart, that maybe they really can understand a few English phrases.
Are they (cats & dogs) able to remember? Let's hear your story supporting this.
A girl I used to work with, named Wendy told me that she had a dog. Can't remember what breed it was. She allowed it to sleep in her bed with her every night. Her 1st semester of college, she went away to dorms, leaving the dog with her Mom. At the end of the semester, Wendy came home to visit Mom & dog. The dog growled at Wendy whenever she tried to touch or pet it.
Mom says the dog was pretty pissed when Wendy left for college.
Wendy starting visiting Mom & dog more often, and gradually, the dog started to allow her to pet it once again.
Funny story. I wonder if cats can remember anything, considering the popular myth of their 10-second memories.

Dogs DO remember! My sister once dropped my dachsaund onto a hard concrete floor...on it's side. It let out quite a yelp and ran off. For about a year after, he wouldn't let her get within 10 feet of him. He bit her on numerous occasions, and did not do this to other people (he's a very sweet dog otherwise).
There is a flip side. To this same dog I once felt evil, and to show off to a friend I plaved it on a vibrating chair. The poor thing almost had a heart attack it was so scared. It let out the loudest yelp I ever heard and ran off, not coming down for the rest of the night. The next day, he acted as if nothing had happend. Go figure.

Of COURSE they do.
I was the "master and commander" of my dog before I left for basic training...I come back, 6 months later and she IMMEDIATELY picks up like I've been gone only a few days. I was in TOTAL control, the alpha and omega once again in her eyes. We were even able to do my favorite trick (from a FarSide cartoon ) where she balances a dog biscuit on her nose

I think they can remember. I don't have a really story. They don't have real feelings like love sad(maybe this and happy).
I know that my hamster remembers me because he usually bites/nibbles on a person he doesn't know. I let him bites/nibble on my finger and he doesn't do it anymore. only to other people. My Hamster is strange.

Yup they do, when my parents broke up 3,5 year ago my mom had 1 of the dogs, and my dad had the other.
My dad sometimes comes at my moms to bring something, and if i or 1 of my other brothers take our dog downstairs then he is really happy to see him again, you can just see right away that he is really happy.

Yup, dogs remember. We had to give away our dog (one of the saddest days of my life) cause we found out my mom was allergic. She tried to take allergy medicine, but after a year it was just too much sneezing. Soooo, off to the pound he went
About 18 months later, I was down at the river with some buddies having a good time. All of a sudden, this brown blob of fur comes out of nowhere and jumps right into my arms, knocking me on my butt! It was my dog!! Got lots of kisses, tailed wagged like crazy, shed a couple of tears. The new owners came running and apologized "he's never done that before". I asked what his name was and was surprised when they told me "we kept his old name, Bucky". I told them it was my dog, explained the circumstances, and that I was happy he went to a good home They gave me their home address and said I could come visit whenever I wanted! That was awesome.
That was over 15 years ago....Bucky passed away while I was in University....aaah, thanks for the memories I miss my dog...
