Talk Trashed Computers

Hello everyone,
i was just wondering if i was the only one that picks up and takes home trashed computers.
I don't have the money to buy computer hardware so this is the only way of getting that stuff. Some of the things i have gotten so far:
2 PII prcessors, a sound card, a network card, a working motherboard w/o a video card, a SCSI HDD, a SCSI CD-ROM, IDE HDD, IDE CD-ROM, 3.5 FLOPPY, some kind of RAM that i never seem before, a tape drive, and some other things.

NOt exactly. I keep old parts from computers I upgrade. But recently, I threw out a bunch of stuff that was taking up room!

Most of my first two computers were from "trashed computers".

Taught me a lot about real world computer repair, in a real hurry.

I just wind up with the stuff, not really sure how it finds me,but then again I don't turn it down either.Too much of a packrat for that.

CE I'm still using most of my first computer, scattered between 3 others of course

Having a deja vu with this thread...I take it, it was originally supposed to be a poll, hence why the last one was deleted?

I actually ask my friends to give me their old parts, the parts they don't want anymore. It's a great way to mess around with hardware and learn a little something, like not installing a PCI card while the computer is on.

Most of my stuff comes from what others throw in my direction. Most recent nice stuff was an old server tower, complete with 9GB 7200rpm SCSI drive, and working mobo with P2-366 in it.

I don't throw much away myself - still got a stack of 30pin RAM modules - mostly 1MB!!

Cheers
Mick
