Good move. This judge was a law unto himself.

But he will appeal.

Don't count the Judge out yet!

I listened to his responses (for the first time ) and have to admit, he has some very strong, logical, and ethical points.

This may get very interesting when he appeals, and if he takes it to the Supreme Court of the U.S. The ramifications of what may happen if it goes against him all the way are tremendous. For one thing, it would mean that every state consistution, and the U.S. Consitution would be in violation. (That would also include all higher government offices as well.)

You can call him names and laugh at him, but take the time to see what he's quoting and where he's coming from. You might learn something and be surprised.

BTW, I found it interesting that there was a statue of the God Athenus in the courtyard of the court where the committee met, but that was okay.

This doesn't stop him from running for the same judicial office again in 2006, though it's far more likely that he'll use his "martyrdom" as a springboard for running for Governor.

I like the idea that his fight may force the Supreme Court to decide once and for all whether religion has a place in our government. I don't agree with his stance, but I do like the idea of forcing the issue.

The only place that religion has in our lives is in the Church/Temple/Synagogue and in our homes.

Religion and politics/business do not mix and are mutually exclusive.

Shahani, you demonstrate a woeful ignorance of American history, our forefathers (those are the guys that wrote the constitution) and the constitution.

Well then Shahani, I guess you might as well throw out the U.S. Constitution, every State Constitution, the entire Judicial System, all levels of government in the U.S. and many Corporations. Throw out our money, our Pledge of Allegience, Oaths of Office, etc.

Well, we got along fine without God in the Pledge of Allegiance until the mid-50's, when it was put there as an antiCommunist thumb-in-the-eye; and "In God We Trust" didn't appear on coins until 1908 and on paper money until 1957. So the Republic is perfectly capable of surviving without them.

I agree with Theophylact.

i am glad to see Mr Moore get the punishment he deserved. He does have some good points, but the bottom line is that he disobeyed a court order to remove the monument. And, he had never discussed putting the monument there in the first place with the other justices. so to me, that is telling me that he thinks he can do what ever he pleases with no regard to his oath or the constitution.
