YART (Yet Another Rant Thread)
Time to get some of those old frustrations out!
Last weekend I went to see Matrix 3 in the movie theater. We decided to get there early so we could get good seats. The movie was supposed to start at 1:05, and we got there around 12:30. At 12:40 the lights dimmed, and they began to show commercials. I guess 1 or 2 wouldnt have been bad, but they played 25 minutes (no joke, really 25 minutes) of STRAIGHT commercials! You would think that since you pay for tv channels like HBO or whatever and they dont have commercials, that when you pay to see a movie, that it would also not have commercials.
But wait im not done yet. At 1:05, they start the previews. I dont know who thought it would be cool to put bright white flashes into previews but I would like to have a word with them. My eyes are sensitive to light and take longer to adust them most peoples. EVERY SINGLE preview, that right, EVERY last one of them had the white flash at least every 10 seconds like clock work.
It is experiances like this that make me never want to go to the theaters again.

I've been to one movie in the last ten years and that's why. I hate movie theatres. Rude people, uncomfortable seats, outrageous snack prices, and crap like ads and too loud music.

I don't have a problem with going to the movies... I just sit, talk while the comercials are going, then lay back and enjoy the movie...
no biggie.

I don't enjoy the seats. That's my only problem. After about an hour my back gets really sore. Other than that I don't mind going.

| YES...that's the best part...I feel like I'm inside the movie
I go to the movies 1-3 times a month...used to be about once or twice a year 'til I moved to DC and had people to go with and nice theaters 10 minutes away. Planning on seeing Matrix 3 and LOTR 3 next week.

What theatre did you go to, e? Here in SoCal, Edwards theatres has a 25 minute preview showcasing new music, new movies, and other stuff. I don't mind them, though. I prefer that over the cheesy "movie facts" and advertisement slides they show before the movie starts.

Movies are the best when you have your girlfriend with you in the back row.

I went to see Matrix in IMAX. Just wait until each lightning flash BURNS YOUR EYES OUT! Holy crap!
Somehow, the non-standard theatres always seem to be better. No obnoxcious Joes (you can't hear them over the sound system anyway), no bad seats (IMAX seats kick!), and there are usually like 1/8th the ads (there were like 2 for Matrix 3).
The problems? Snack prioces are UBER-high (like $5 for a small drink, yeesh), and ticket prices are OUTRAGEOUS! ($11.50)
If only movies cost alot less. Oh, wait, they do. It's jsut illegal to do that |
