Veterans day respect please

I know its all cool nowadays to slam the military but how about today we at least give respect to the men who gave it all for their countries.

When on the battlefield, in the heat of battle, it isnt about oil, or politics, or lines on maps, or giving a flip what all the safe secure crybabies a thousand miles away are saying...its about trying to save your buddy next to you, who saved you yesterday etc..its about trying to make it home to the young family waiting for you, its about the spirit of survival kicking in when youre tired, confused and pinned down. Its about fighting desperately for your very life....a situation which FEW humans ever get to experience.

My grandpa was in WW2 on Okinawa and Iwo and somewhere around panama for a while. I know Iwo was a pretty desperate struggle.

So my hat is off to all the men who took part in the struggles thru history....we try to simulate warfare thru crap like football, wrestling, movies etc...and our society heaps praise on these guys as if they have really accomplished somethign, lol....but the real respect goes to the men who lived the real thing...the real John Waynes.

The men who lived war should be judged by their peers...and all the whiney crybabies who never faced an oncoming enemy should just STFU! At least for this one day give the respect....if you cant say something good, just keep it to yourself for this one day a year.

Thats as mild as I can put it.

JP

Mine was a Marine. Later he lived in DC and worked at the bureau of engraving and printing for like 20 some years....all the while managing the apt building he lived in and 2 or 3 others.

Of all the peeps in my family I probably respected him the most..certainly more than my father, lol. Cuz Grandpa (moms side of family) started with absolutely nothing, and he wasnt a genius by any stretch..yet thru constant hard work he managed to do pretty well for himself and eventually retire to Florida. Compared to my dad who had a lot more to work with and has done nothing with it but mess up. (went in army, went awol, lol..divorced 4 times etc)...now he lives with his mom and sister..totally dysfunctional family unit, lol. He and I hardly speak. His greatest recent acheivement was borrowing his brothers car and wrecking it and asking his brother to pay for half of the damage??

Compared to now..no wonder they call them "Americas greatest generation"
