Don't worry. US goods are manufactured in Asia and Mexico. It won't be affected by tarrifs!

RayH: It doesn't matter where the products are manufactured. The tarrifs will affect any goods that will be sold by American companies in the EU.

It still doesn't matter. It won't affect the American WORKER. He didn't produce the goods anyway! Let them slap big time tariffs!

What about agricultural resources, like grain we export? The USA is not all tech and industrial.

RayH: I understand what you are saying. But it's irrelevant here, since the tarrifs are a result of the American breach of WTO agreements. I was merely pointing out to you what this is all about, but we seem to be talking past each other. Oh well

If successful, this will hugely impact the US economy in a negative manner. Even if some of the goods are produced outside the US, the profits still go to US companies.

A lot of high tech manufacturing, from armaments to space technology to computer hardware is actually manufactured here and may be affected.

I guess the rest of the world is seeking to send a strong signal to the Administration: You can't unilaterally do what you want in the international arena.

Maybe Bush ought to listen.

ClubMed Only other countries are wrong. America is never wrong. We don't breach agreements. We are the agreement. Didn't President Bush make that clear?

Toadman Bigtime American agriculture is harvested with illegal alien labor. So who's getting hurt?

Well, if Bush says it is so, it is so.
