Here's hoping that it fails.
I have nothing against immigrants. My family IMMIGRATED here. But there's a difference between legal and illegal immigration, and this country (and all countries) have the right to open or close their borders as they see fit to any groups they see fit to open or close them too.
A driver's license is more than just a license to drive a vehicle, it is considered valid identification in any situation, including when theoretically asked if you're a citizen. I don't support changing that. What I DO support is the deportation of illegal immigrants. If they'll cross again when trucked across the border, truck them far enough that they can't do so easily.

Dputiger.....I completely agree with you, but don't you also think we should build a fortress around our borders so that the deportees and new illegals don't have an easy way in?

What kills me is that in order for California citizens to get/renew their driver's license, we have to show our Social Security card. How are they going to bypass that for the "illegal immigrants" of which do not have any documentation? |

It's back:
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Jeb Bush endorsed a bill to allow illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses, saying they are in the state anyway and officials should accept that fact. Source: AP

The situation is that the drivers license is supposed to enable people to get insurance to drive. But what insurance company is going to insure someone who has no "roots?"

Yes LAF, California isn't broke, or anything - We should build a massive wall that stops them, we should also have guards with assault rifles, just in case. |

Recall troops from Germany.
50,000 to 80,000 troops could cover southern border with hands practically held together as a human shield. placing bases along the border would bring tremendous money back into the american economy as well.
