Barbra accuses CBS of Censorship
Barbra Streisand believes that CBS is guilty of censorship for canceling their mini-series, The Reagans. Presumably her outrage is unrelated to the fact that her husband had a role in the movie.
What do you think? Censorship or was it just another sucky miniseries?

I don't know why they had to add things that weren't true. If they wanted a negative view of Reagan there was enough bad stuff that was true.

| Patti Davis has an excellent article reflecting her frustration with the movie and its producers.

First off, let me say I was never a fan of Ronald Reagan. Now thats out of the way......
I'd hardly call deciding not to show a mini-series (because of pressure) censorship. Had they actively attempted to prevent it from being aired anywhere, you might be able to call it that.
I'm torn between congratulating them or condemning them on this one.
I'd congratulate them for taking a stand and not showing a program that apparently is inaccurate yet portrays itself to be a somewhat factual account (especially since it is based on real people). I say "apparently inaccurate" because I don't personally know what the movie contains, and because it seems to me that nobody from either political viewpoint is seriously questioning the validity of statements saying that parts of the show are fabricated.
However, I would condemn them for taking the series on knowing it was fictional, and then bowing to politcal pressure to remove it from their programming. I think its safe to assume that they knew the contents of the movie before originally scheduling it to be aired, and that they were aware it was fictional. In hindsight, perhaps they should have just demanded that the name of the series be changed and gone ahead and aired it as a fictional program. This may or may not have worked because of character names and likenesses used though. Or perhaps they should have had the foresight to realize that airing a fictional show, which portrayed a former president in a non-fictional manner, would create a political backlash and they shouldn't even have taken on the project.
I have no idea what the motivation was for either the writers, producers, or programming executives at CBS. But MTAtech was 100% correct, if any of them were out to portray former President Reagan in a negative light, there was no reason to stray from actual events or to fabricate items at all.

Sounds like a plan for Bill Clinton's movie.
Wow, read down thru Babs' other vendettas. ROFL!
I thought she was going to expatriate herself from the USA if we went to war in Iraq? What's she still doing here?

Unfortunate CBS chickened out.
Would have been a series worth watching.

All one need do is watch, 'CBS World News Tonight' with Dan 'Slather' [you in propaganda] and moving to the conclusion that CBS has become a leftist rag is not too difficult.
Of course all 'rags' whether left or right, trash opponents not in their political camps by half-truths, character assassination, hyperbole and what not and CBS is no different.
Moreover, the election draweth near:
Let The Mud Slinging Begin...in earnest!!
