Status of MP3 Downloading: Are we all about to be sued?

Appearently, the RIAA are all over kazaa. 200+ people sued already. I just read a story about this kid from princeton that settled out of court for a sum of 15,000!

I got about 4,000+ mp3s on this computer. I use mostly soulseek and i have'nt heard of anyone being sued using this program.


Personally i think, the internet has opened a floodgate that cannot be closed. I dont see any forseable way of stoping people from downloading. Even with all these lawsuits and fear. But i just dont want to be someone that gets caught up in the process. I dont have an extra 15,000 to spare right now.

What do you guys think?

If you're in Canada, you're OK.
If you are in the States, start burning to CD's and get it off your computer. Remove your files from the share folder.

Stop using those well known, virus and trojan plagued P2P's, and stop "sharing" commercially recorded music or other copywritten materials over the web, and you'll have nothing to fear.
If you have a recent history of downloading tons of warez and music I suggest you find a way to remove it from your PC (removable media or external drives) before the RIAA and other entities find ways to be more invasive into our privacy.

Bottom line is nothings free.
