Complete websites... ever try stuffing an average of 20k files per archived site down a 56k connect? MSN surely looses money on me every month!

The beauty of Cable Modem, the phone line doesn't get used.heh heh. Of course, dial up has its advantages. Like no telemarketers can get through either.
I'm usually on when ever I get home from work (4:30pm-ish) until 9:00pm.

Unless you have the joy's of Charter Communications, particulry in my area. Cable modem is available, try one-way access though. Worst yet, several hundred users are piped on a multiplexed T1 setup to another site in NE TN before ever reaching anything resembling a Internet tier classification.
Download speeds on such a setup you may ask? Try a wonderful 10-20 KBps, not worth the additional costs. Don't even ask about ping times; online gaming is not happening here.

I'm too far out for DSL, and an ISDN line would cost me $100+ per month for a decent carrier. Perhaps moving would just be easier....

Too much ?

well as i type - I have to confess to loosing twenty pounds [J/K]- must be the exercise typing - or the fact that i have to move to get to the fridge - am I compulsive - no - 254 hours is not - well it's not my problem - really I can live without it - but someone just brought me in a new machine to fix - so i'll be able to justify another 40 hours fixing that one. as for cable - mine would have to be at least 20 miles long - cause that is the shortest distance - through the trees to a cable connection - unless I put a machine at my rental house - and then vpn back to me - 25 miles away - I'm not sure that is any faster than the 48k or the 26.4 from home - now that I thread capped -

do I spend too much time - ask EBB next time she is on!

our conversations begin with the funny stuff that happened here!

downloads - at night - sceduled - usually online for 8 hours at a time.
LOL - wiz

hehe, one thing about being on broadband is that that 'always on' thing kinda puts me on 'lets leave the comp on 24/7' attitude, since i just could, and my OS is stable enough. so theroetically the comp is on 24/7 and its always active. and I am on using it pretty much several hours a day, but always scheduling downloads when I am not at the comp.

So theres such a concept as too much time online???

Yep my computer even more online than I am. The server even 24/7 with a reset once in a month (or when needed).
I think I spend about 4 to 7 hours online per day. But lately I try or even have to do other things so it dropped to 3-4 hours a day. Mostly like half hours between other things at the moment.
