Jury Duty

Ok I got my official notice of Jury Duty

Normally no problem, its part of life..
HOWEVER

In this case I'm told to call ONE day before Nov 18th
So basically ANY plans I have for OMG what a crazy thought Seeing family back in MI are borked

I have no problem serving jury duty but this is BS!!
I *MIGHT* have to do dury duty IF my group is chosen.
WTF?!?!

I checked out their website (www.fairfaxcounty.gov/jury ) to see if there was a way to get out of it but it says nothing other than family emergencies

Anybody have any ideas?
I haven't been home since July and I havent' been home for thanksgiving in like 2 or 3 years (normally work thanksgiving).

as I said, under normal circumstances no problem on doing jury duty but I'd like to go home for holidays

I'm not overly familiar with jury duty, but I think you might be out of luck on this one. I'm also guessing that you won't be the only one who gets called who wants to go home and visit family on that particular day...

Submit your request (which explains the situation in detail), in writing to the court for review. A judge will look it over.

As they say, there's no harm in asking.

Write to them, or better yet call them and ask to move your day. Should be easy to do.

At every jury election I've been to they ask if you would have a problem upholding the law and setting aside any personal bis you may have. At this point I tell them "As long as I don't feel Man's law is in conflict with God's law, I would have no problem with it." Gets me out every time. Good luck.

As I said I have no problem doign it any other time, but this is one of few times I'll be able to spend the holidays back home with my family. ANY other time no problem.

I think the part that REALLY burns me is that I may have to cancel vacation because I MIGHT have to do it
