Bloody Day in Baghdad

http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/...ain/index.html

In Washington, President Bush and L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. civilian administrator in Iraq, condemned the bombings and said the coalition will not be intimidated

Sure, they're safe and sound a couple of thousand miles away.
And they won't even let the press cover the returning dead, brave soldiers anymore. What has our leadership come to

So your saying our President and perhaps all of congress should go visit Iraq personally? I don't see that as a good idea personally.

Yes we do have lots of brave soldiers dying over there. I don't see how showing a bunch of coffins come off planes are going to help our moral. Like it or not we are commited to this now. We can't back down and let Saddam return and punish everyone. We have to be there till Iraq is strong enough to defend itself from evil dictators such as Saddam. The cost in lives is going to be great, many brave people are going to die, but would they still be brave people if they sat around in the US while masses of people all over the world die under the rule of evil people? They signed on knowing what could happen. I have one realitive over there now and my best friend who was just accepted to Purdue threw all that so he could join the Marines. He just flew to San Diego CA today to start training. We talked before he left, and he knows the risks, but his view is the people in these other countries take that same risk everyday, and he wants to change that even if it takes his life.

Well, with election around the corner, Bush doesn't want the soldiers killed getting publicity.

Can't say I am surprised or blame him. He couldn't care less if a thousand or two get killed so long as he's reelected and his buddies make oil money.

But, I think people in this country are very intelligent and aware of what Bush has done and will react next year in November.

There is substantial evidence that America's interest in Iraq is motivated by oil, not just national security. Is the U.S. government being open and honest about their reasons for declaring war on Iraq? Read the evience and decide for yourself.
From the linky.

I signed up the petition. Hopefully this will snowball and bury Bush and his Men.

Good question, Skip.

But this begs another question.

Who is running it now?

If its on autopilot, it'll stay on autopilot till we gets some President who can run the country.

"We've always said the more progress we make, the more desperate the killers will become," the spokesman said. Asked how it could be determined that the attacks signaled desperation rather than sophistication, McClellan repeated: "The more progress we make toward a free and prosperous Iraq, the more desperate they will become."
If this is progress, what would count as a setback?

Should we not all be nervous? We have a president that is the most uncurious and uninformed in my lifetime (perhaps ever) at the helm of the country when informed policy is critical. “The best way to get the news,” he says, “is from objective sources. And the most objective sources I have are people on my staff.”

I read five newspapers a day just to get a sense of what is going on in the world. It is unimaginable that I probably know more about what is really going on than the President of the United States.

According to Paul Krugman, ‘President Bush was genuinely surprised to learn from moderate Islamic leaders that they had become deeply distrustful of American intentions. The report on the “perception gap” suggests that the leader of the war on terror has no idea how badly that war — which must, ultimately, be a war for hearts and minds — is going.’

Who can do better? How can anyone do worse? Every ounce of this president’s being spells mediocrity. Any of the democratic opponents will do better. At least we’ll get a president that reads the newspaper.

As Florida proved, every vote counts.
