Math: Problem

Solve by completing the square.

ax^2 + bx + c = 0

^2 is squared.

MathWolf: ax^2 + bx + c=0
Same as (px+q)(px+q)
Now to solve for p and q.
px*px=p^2x^2
2(px*q)=2(pqx)=2pqx
q*q=q^2

So a=p^2
b=2pqx
c=q^2

Ehhh....

I think I forgot to mention something. Solve for x. And BTW solve by "Completing the Square"

Here is in example.

x^2 + 2x +1 = 0

x^2 + 2x = -1

x^2 + 2x + 1 = 0 (Take half of 2 ( or B) and sqaure it , then add it to both sides)

(x+1)^2 = 0

x + 1 = sqrt 0

x= 1 +/- 0

x= -1

SpeakerWolf: So, what are you asking?
MathWolf: There are infinite combinations if you can pick your own numbers.
QuestionWolf: Is it that you want to know how to mathematically complete the square, without doing wierd factoring?
ProbabilityWolf: Or is it that you want us to solve using a, b, and c?
CluelessWolf: I don't think I understand.
PessimistWolf: You NEVER understand!

Yes, you have to solve it by x = a*b*c or whatever.

The answer is very easy except using completing the sqaure is harder. In Alegebra II today, I'll if I can do it. BTW the answer is the quadratic equation.

x= -b +/- sqro b^2 -4ac
2a

x= negative b plus or minus the squareroot of b squared minus 4 a c all over 2a. We learned a song about this in 8th grade lol.
