Is chemical castration an acceptable punishment for male sex offenders?

Why not try making the payment for the crime worse than the crime it's self? Instead of coddling them, with oh say, cable tv, comfortable beds, fancy food, and other such goodies, and just give them the bare minimum needed to live? I feel that once they commit a crime like that, they have given up any such claims to 'rights'.

Just put them into a maximum security prison and ensure that "word" of his crime gets around to the general population. A few star watchers in the guard staff one night and problem solved.

Although the brick method sounds interesting.
