john,

I have a plan and a partner for the karate business. I'll never be more than an amatuer combatant (for fun), but I am and will be an Instructor. The firefighter career has a schedule that is 24 hours on/48 hours off. So karate would be on my off days of course.

Yeah, Cheyanne can only teach me shootfighting on monday, friday and saturday. He is trying to get me ready to teach classes before he leaves next year.

I do have a couple things on my background check that may be better if I put a little more time between them and the fire fighter career.

Well, I stick with my original post. Like you said, there are probably a dozen people waiting to fill those EMT spots and only one guy available to teach you that Shootflipping fighting Karate dude thing or another whatchamacallit

One more thing...

Any job paid for by tax money is likely to be gold plated retirement and benefits...

Don't be ashamed to step up to the trough, It can be a great life!

Plus off the job injuries are usually covered by municial insurance plans, so knock your self out! Did I really say that?

I wish you the best in whatever you choose. I say do what you enjoy most. Sometimes the job may not pay as well as others but will be more rewarding.
