Heh, that's what I do Very warm water, supersaturated with salt. It works awesome. If I really wanna "feel the sting", I put the juice out of half a lemon in a can of 7-Up. That usually subdues the pain long enough for me to eat

I've received a few PM's asking about this thread, and with the stress of the Holidays,, I want to help you keep your lips looking good, and not like Rudolph's nose (who wants to be a pariah at the mistletoe)

LMAO, surreal. So L-Lysine for throat/mouth canker sores and Valtrex for lip cold sores?

I've talked to quite a few others who swear by the Lysine, so that'll definitely be what I try the next time. Valtrex works great, but I'm sure it's more expensive than the Lysine.

I use Anbesol. Oragel is another one.
I get cankers when I'm taking medication usually, and the last time was when the wife put me on vitamins.

As far as canker sores being herpes...
I think you are confusing cankers with cold sores there.

DOH! heck! I was talking a bout cold sores the whole time!

L-Lysine works for a cold... oh heck works for both oral and genital herpes.. (cold sore sounds so much nicer )
Valtrex works a little faster and better, but heck, it's like a doctor pill man.... Oh, and $

Geeze Toady, thanks for pointing that out, I must have been confusing everyone... whew, at least there were no
Mal practice suits!

Was it a high dose of vitiman C? Wonder if something like baking soda would help neutralize the acid in ones system when a canker sore appears?
