The Simpsons: What's a "quijibo"?
Does anyone remember that episode of The Simpsons when the family was playing Scrabble and Bart used the word "quijibo"? What did he define it as again?

I did. All I got was information on bands named Quijibo, comic strips based on The Simpsons, and various forum threads talking about the word but not actually defining it.

Found it!

Quijibo??? The word comes from the first Simpson episode, "Bart the Genius". It is actually spelled "Kwyjibo" there, but we are using a quaint regional variant spelling. But what does it mean? What does it mean to you an I?
Bart defines it as "a big dumb balding North American ape", to which Marge adds "and no temper".

My favorite nonexistent high-value Scrabble word is "quizjinxing", defined as "what was done to the TV game show 21 by Charles Van Doren when he was caught being given the answers before the show." With any decent luck, you should be able to stretch that across two triple-word scores... |
