Hehe, did you run any regcleaners or been mucking around in the registry OuT? All those program entries are are registry entries.

Could try restoring the registry. Might get em back. Though if those are hosed I would not be suprised if more is as well.

That feature is not available in Windows 2000 Professional. He is not using XP, thats 2000. Right? I hope I am right..
