dawn patrol analysis

Quote:
Thermal count is rising
In perpetual writhing
The primordial ooze
And the sanity they lose

Awakened in the morning
To more air pollution warnings
Still we sleepwalk off to work
While our nervous systems jerk

Pretending not to notice
How history had forebode us
With the green house in effect
Our environment was wrecked

Now I can only laugh
As I read our epitaph
We end our lives as moles
In the dark of the dawn patrol

By Dave Mustaine [and David Ellefson?]

I choose this poem for a poetic analysis paper (1-2 pages) for Eng132 (or some number close...).

I was just wondering if anyone would like to throw in another perspective on the last two lines and what they mean. I will keep my thoughts to myself for the moment so I don't sway any original thoughts.

Poem? Isn't that a Megadeth song? Or did Dave just use the poem?

dawn patrol = looking for morning surf---
a bit better scenario being a seal/dolphin---surfer---then a mole trudging along looking for a random root...

Dawn Patrol?? Yeah that was an OK album I guess...but I think "Midnight Madness" was a classic.

Did it get crapped because at first the post did not display? I don't mind...seems to have made it one of my more popular non-techinical posts!

RiP is the album, BTW...just incase ya didn't know. And it was written by Dave Mustaine (credit also given to David Ellefson, though I believe he helped write the music not the lyrics, but I could be mistaken)

Midnight Madness??

Oh, and my analysis wasn't quite styled towards any of our guidelines...but I don't really like ANALYZING good writing, so I just did it the best I think I could...here it tis:
Quote:
It's getting hot. Hot as hell. It's like a furnace or boiler room. The heat is so intense that is causes discomfort. People on the surface exposed to the atmosphere squirm like a worm on a hook in discomfort. Breathing is a difficult task in the now natural atmosphere, and the sun permeates the skin as there are no more gaseous layers to protect the earth from the suns intense lethal radiation. The human race has proved to be of no intelligence. In their mass they are much like a primordial ooze, that which was believed to be the very beginning of life: a puddle of chemicals that eventually formed cellular growth that then lead to “intelligent” life. These unintelligent creatures are loosing what little thought control they had in this lethal confining environment.
Each day brings a broadcast reminder that we have destroyed our immaculate living conditions. What would be a normal temperature increase is now a stimulant for chemical reactions between the pollutants we have deposited in our air. But it doesn't matter as long as we get our money. We mindlessly continue on our path of destruction, with no regard for even the obvious problems created by our detrimental desires. If we even notice a problem, we rationalize global demise as inevitable.
We continue to ignore the obvious, both past and present. The errors of our previous ways are set aside as mis perceptions. It is better we believe that history has had control, and not us. That the paths taken have been those chosen of a power greater than ours. But it is indeed us that have convicted ourselves to our current situations, nothing else. And that situation is an environment made lethal by our own consumption. There is no way to turn it back when it is so far gone.
I myself am laughing in madness, for it is all that is left now. It was all preventable, if we weren't so self-consumed. But it is the end of the world as a living entity. Perhaps all is better, as we have confined ourselves to quarantine due to the lack of a natural supporting environment. Only through underground life were we able to survive as long as we did. Only coming out at night to avoid the lethal sun is no longer a worry. Our air has expired, and so has our ability to accommodate such a lack of necessity. It is the extinction of mankind, and it was self-induced.
