Today Our Governer, the governer of Georgia that is, terminated the database effort dubbed MATRIX "Multistate Antiterrorism Regional Information Exchange System".
The database was intended to be used to track all commercial and financial transactions in an effort to "locate" terrorists.
The MATRIX would give law enforcement officers and other security officials in the public and private sectors access to data about everyone.
The governer decided correctly that it would be a horrific invasion of privacy to have all the information gathered by this database and a Florida paper said:
The MATRIX "is an Orwellian technology that would allow police to assemble electronic dossiers on every Floridian, even those not suspected of crimes."
That would have included EVERYONE in EVERY STATE that allowed its use.
