More Important: Phone or new Vid Card?

I am posed at the cliffs of a dilemma. I am seriously behind on my phone bill. However I do not have a phone at the moment, I turned it of six months ago. I think the total is $173.xx. Now, my problem is that I have enough money to pay it off and get it hooked back up in my new place next week. OR, since I have a cell and don't NEED a land line, I could buy a brand spanking new AIW Radeon card... Any suggestions? I'm morally conflicted!! I should start a poll, but that would be dumb. :P Thanks!

Why not just pay off the phone bill (the only honest way)...sooner or later they'll come looking for you after they've royally screwed with your credit rating?

You can always save up the necessary price of a new video card... the AIW Radeon will be obsolete in 6 months anyway, so you might as well save up for a bigger, better, faster card that you'll undoubtedly be drooling over then anyway.

There isn't any moral conflict here... you know what's the right thing to do.

Gotta agree. I would do the responsible thing and pay the bills before buying something that is not a necessity, as much as itd be nice for a new vid card.

Pay the Bill

I agree that you should pay off the phone bill. I will help you out in the long run with keeping your credit clean for more important purchases such as houses and cars. Take it from someone who knows. When I was younger I kept putting bills off like that and even now I can't even get as simple a thing as a department store credit card! It takes a while to get back into good standing with creditors.

You can always save up again for the next best vid card to come out!

yeah, you would be wise to pay off that phone bill. i know you're a young guy and stuff like a credit history may seem unimportant but a bad credit report can ruin you chances when you need to apply for a loan - car, house, etc.

That's an interesting way at looking at paying off bills....

Quote:
Rep: "Excuse me Mr. Johnson, but we would just like to remind you that you're 2 months behind on your cable bill. Would you like to pay it now?"

Mr. Johnson: "Hmm... Nah."

Rep: "Excuse me?"

Mr. Johnson: "Yes?"

Rep: "You aren't going to pay off your cable bill?"

Mr. Johnson: "Hmm... You got it. I choose not to."
Unfortunately, the last time I checked - it's not an option as to whether or not you'll pay off a bill.

Heh, it may be an option, but only for so long..... eventually it'll lead to bankruptcy.
