Marine finds an Iraq worth saving
I really like hearing from the guys that are there, instead of the armchair reporters that feed you the liberal doom and gloom fodder.......
From someone who was/is there, the message is: Marine finds an Iraq worth saving http://www.pahrumpvalleytimes.com/20...ews/scott.html Quote:
It will take a long time to forge a democracy in Iraq, but Jim Scott believes the mission is a worthy one.
He ought to know.
The 2000 graduate of Pahrump Valley High School recently returned to the valley after a lengthy deployment in the Middle East, including a perilous trip through Iraq at what military officials have referred to as "the tip of the spear."
"America wasn't built in a day," said Scott, who joined the Marines at 17 and recently celebrated his 21st birthday. "It didn't take a month, it didn't take three months. It took a long time."
Iraq won't be changed overnight, either, but Scott believes it will happen some day, "if the world helps."
Pahrump Community Church held a banquet in Scott's honor after its Sunday service on Sept. 28. It was one of several large meals that he enjoyed surrounded by family in his first few days back in Pahrump.
Scott is scheduled to return to Camp Pendleton on Oct. 24 to begin his final 10 months in the Marine Corps. After that, he and his wife, Ardrenna, who also graduated from PVHS in 2000, will enroll at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and perhaps go on to the seminary.
He wants to become a youth pastor. |
